LocationShelburne, VT
StatusAdopted

Slinky is 4 years old (approx. DOB 11-17-16), female, 38 lbs., vetted, is or will be spayed, and micro-chipped. Slinky’s owner was detained at a quick stop in NC and Slinky found herself at the County shelter! She was very scared and confused!

Good with Dogs? Yes!
Good with Cats? So far so good
Has a prey drive? Minimal prey drive (gentle with cat)
Good with smaller kids (mouthy, nippy, jumpy, chase, scared)? Unknown (she is very gentle, so we wouldn’t be overly concerned in regards to kids)
Energy Level (low, low-medium, medium, medium-high, or high)? Low-medium (initiates play often and then sleeps) Scared of people or socially outgoing? Very timid with new people. Warms up quickly
Needs another dog in the home (if scared of people), ok as only, or either way? Either way
Crate trained? In progress. Has had accidents during the day, very vocal. Quiet at night
Does he/she like the crate? She will sleep in the crate no problem (nighttime) but if we leave during the day she has slight separation anxiety (barks)
Potty trained? Yes, but she has had a few accidents during anxious moments
Chewer/destructive? No
Separation Anxiety from people when left alone? Some separation anxiety
Vocal? Yes
Behavior on leash when walking near lots of people/dogs? Walks great on leash, does not pull. Not very confident in new environments or around new people
Concerning behavior: only concern has been she can be slightly protective of her bed when it’s outside of her crate (we no longer do that) and if she begs for table scraps she will guard us so that our dog can’t get near us. We have been working on the begging.
Best in the busy City or rural calm or doesn’t matter? Doesn’t matter, but she does bark at most strange noises.

BEST IDEAL HOME IN YOUR OPINION? Moderately active family, as she loves being outside. But honestly, we feel like she would be a great addition to most homes. She is very sweet, gets along with our animals, and is very eager to learn new things. Stay tuned for more information as Slinky is a new rescue!
