Odie is 7 years old (approx. DOB 2-18-13), male, 90 lbs. (overweight – needs to lose at least 10 lbs) , vetted, is or will be neutered, and micro-chipped. Odie was owner abandoned at the shelter with 2 other dogs and 3 cats because they “had too many” in NC! He certainly did not go without food though! The shelter staff says Odie is super friendly and when he met 3 of the staff he was super exuberant and loves butt scratches! He seems more affection motivated than treat motivated and does not seem to know how or want to play with toys. Odie loves to be the center of attention!
From his VT Foster Family: “Odie is an incredibly sweet dog, he just wants love all the time. He’s loosing some weight (he’s down to about 80 now). He’s still a big guy and has trouble understanding that, so he often tries to fit into places that are too small for him or even trying to curling up on Jessie or my lap. We have been working on crate training, and that is going very well. Only a little barking when we leave the house, but he settles quickly. He has been spending nights in it and seems content there. While we can’t walk him much because of his heart worm recovery, we are trying to get him a bit better with the leash. He’s just so excited to be alive he tends to pull and dart around a lot! Apart from his size and having lots of energy, I really can’t say he’s caused us any trouble at all! No barking, biting, chewing, or accidents. He’s a good dog!”
Stay tuned for more information as Odie is a new rescue!
