Maxwell is 13 months old (approx. DOB 12-2-18), male, 60 lbs., vetted, is or will be neutered, and micro-chipped. Maxwell is a sweet boy who came ended up at a Georgia shelter through no fault of his own. According to staff, he is very friendly, housebroken, and he will stay in a fenced yard. He is now in Vermont and seems to be struggling with learning to acclimate in a new setting. We believe he may need another dog to help him build trust and to observe how other dogs trust and interact with new people. Per his VT foster Maxwell is potty trained, knows Sit, Lay Down, Stay (when he feels like it, he is a HIGHLY intelligent dog and knows what is being asked of him, but will do it once he’s had a pout or a head shake so he can feel he’s doing it on his own terms). If you can maintain eye contact he will Stay when you are preparing his food/placing it for him. Maxwell is highly intelligent and willful, wants to be with his people all the time. We feel Maxwell needs a structured and experienced dynamic to best provide him the tools and confidence to just be a happy puppy to not be stressed and try to take on any roles. Dogs only know what they are taught; sometimes that involves another balanced dog in the home that will teach him! Stay tuned for more information as Maxwell is a new rescue!
