Maple is 3 years old (approx. DOB 9-6-17), female, 47 lbs., vetted, is or will be spayed, and micro-chipped. Maple was found homeless in North Carolina. Because she tested positive for heartworms (has since been treated) as many dogs we save are, no one wanted her and she was out of time! She is now ready to make her trip to Vermont! She is a beautiful fawn colored girl who has some scars on her back. We do not know what she went through nor do we want to think what it could possibly have been but she does appear to have been a mom (we love our mama dogs). Sometimes unfortunately a female dog can get “bred” for puppies and this could have been the case for sweet Maple. In the shelter per the shelter staff she takes treats gently and is a little shy but well behaved. She is a slow mover who is motivated by human attention. Maple tested well with other dogs and overall is friendly, laid back, relaxed, easy to handle, playful, and submissive. Maple is good with humans of all ages. She’s not a fan of car rides but loves a walk and learning to walk well on leash. She has a bit of a prey drive so probably no cats. She has low to medium energy (pretty mellow) and she is getting very good at basic command. Maple is coming out of her shell and trying to spin and do some zoomies, but her favorite place to be is with her people. Stay tuned for more information as Maple is a new rescue!
