Gandolf is 2 years old (approx. DOB 3-7-19), male, 85 lbs. (needs to gain more), vetted, is or will be neutered, and micro-chipped. Gandolf was found as a homeless stray in NC. He is a great laid back easy boy that has been great with everyone big and small! He seems to prefer calmer energy dogs though.
In his current VT foster home Gandolf is good with kids, has exhibited a prey drive (working breed inherant), isvery socially outgoing with people, and has a “designated area” that he’s very comfortable in and returns to when asked and/or whenever he wants a secure spot to relax with his bed. He is potty trained, non destructive (doesnt chew), is expressive (no apartments), and is very well-mannered on a leash with no pulling/tugging. He heels for vehicles to pass and waits for a command to return to the walk (unless he spots wildlife or other pets then he goes into work mode). He will need training on how to filter his prey drive (dogs don’t know what they haven’t been taught) which is not uncommon for this working breed. Gandolf is very smart and knows commands Sit, Stay, Lay, Paw, and Bed. He is so very sweet, friendly, and mild-mannered. He loves having his hair brushed, loves having his belly, neck, and the area behind his ears scratched. He loves laying his head in someone’s lap and loves human attention. He loves taking walks, playing with his knotted rope toys, loves routine., and loves chewing on a good marrow bone. He dislikes being left alone and loud noises. His best home would be working breed experienced, rural with a lot of room for this guy to be outside with a good containment system (extra tall “deer fence” or electric fence).
