StatusAdopted

Chase is 6 years old (approx. DOB 4-26-14), male, 50 lbs., vetted, is or will be neutered, and micro-chipped. Chase was found homeless in NC and ended up at the shelter. At the shelter he was good with other dogs, walks well on a leash, takes treats gently, and doesn’t mind the vet. The shelter staff said he doesn’t try to jump on you and loves to lean in for butt scratches. He loves rope toys and chew bones! Chase has a prey drive so no cats please.

Per his Vermont foster: “Chase is very, very, friendly with the limited people who come to the house, especially with dog people. Though during these Covid times, we haven’t had many people over. He really is very social and quite a love bug. Loves butt scratches and ear scratches! Chase doesn’t really need to be crate trained, he’s very well behaved in the house and can spend time alone on the first floor while we work on the second floor. He sleeps alone on the first floor with no problems. He has no apparent anxiety and is not destructive. He does really love bones, but he doesn’t chew on anything inappropriate. Chase is potty trained, loves to chill on the couch, and is not destructive at all – very well behaved. He’s had very limited time to socialize with other dogs due to social distancing. He gets very excited when he sees other dogs while on a leash and wants to run and be with them but COVID doesn’t allow for that which can cause leash frustration. Proper introductions and building a bond slowly with another dog in the home would be a must. Chase lets us know when he needs to go out. Pulls but is getting better with gentle leader leash. He really gets excited and wants to chase moving objects so we keep a wide berth on people and other animals. Chase’s ideal home would be in the country with less exposure to bike paths/dogs/chaos, lots of space, experienced dog owners, and no cats or roaming off leash dogs. He’s the sweetest boy and we’re really fond of him, he’s very loving. He is very good with our 11 year old, he’s a sweetie and very loving.”
