Bert is approx. 6 years old, male, 64 lbs., vetted, is or will be neutered, and micro-chipped. This hunka hunka love is a calm boy! He was found wandering around homeless in SC. Per the shelter Volunteer in SC: “This is a sweet boy! He isn’t much for playing. Just walks real slow on the leash and likes to hang out with you. We took a puppy out with him; the puppy jumped all over him and he never budged. He didn’t play back, he just took it. Lol like a sweet old grandpa”. Another Volunteer said “and I spent time with Big Old (nka Bert) today and we give him a two thumbs up! He is laid back, good on dog meets with male and female dogs. I love his big head and calm demeanor. Great dog!” Hard to believe this handsome boy was #1 on the PTS list when we rescued him! Bert loves car rides, is good with other dogs (when out on walks on his leash he will barks at others which is not uncommon) , is potty trained, does have a prey drive (no cats !), has lower energy (likes a calmer environment so older kids best), is a quieter boy, and walks well on a leash. Bert is very good with “Sit” and “Lay Down.” Bert likes to chew on bully sticks and chew toys, but does not like anything with a squeaker in it! He also loves sleeping in the comfiest place he can find (couch, armchair, etc). He is great with his caretaker’s dog Finny, who is a 2.5 year old, 45lb chow mix with medium energy. They like to wrestle and play tug with floppy toys and have gotten along very well since day one. When they are not home he freely roams the home; he generally sleeps all day. Bert is a big lover and is very in-tune to human emotions. He is wiggly and always happy to see you when you get home. If you are sad or having a bad day he goes straight up on the couch and will sit next to you and lay his head on you. Bert is definitely not your next running or hiking buddy, but he would love a home where he can sleep on a comfy couch and chew some bully sticks. He is a great snuggler and THE BEST at comforting anyone who has had a bad day. His caretaker’s friends bring their friends over for “Bert snuggles” when they’re stressed! He has a giant squishy head and will give you the most adorable inquisitive head tilt when he’s wondering what’s going on. He’s not going to be anybody’s running or hiking buddy, but he walks great on a leash and is generally very calm at home.
